We planned, delivered, and built a fully-functioning commercial indoor farm in rural Moldova to help feed Ukrainian refugees fleeing war.
This is the story of that farm.

The Myhal Family Foundation, led by Rayla and George Myhal, advances healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid. From Toronto to Rîșcova.
Rîșcova, Moldova, is located in the heart of Eastern Europe. An hours drive from Chișinău (the capital of Moldova), Rîșcova faces severe climate limitations that hinder traditional agriculture.
Project Timeline.
Working with GlobalMedic, we were able to deliver a fully functioning farm in 8 months from ideation to growth. Hover over each selection below to see how it was done.
Aug 2024
Ideation
GlobalMedic originally presented the idea to Just Vertical in August of 2024.
Sept 2024
Planning
Upon confirmation of the idea, Just Vertical and GlobalMedic began planning the details of the farm.
Dec 2024
Shipping
The product was packaged together and moved to GlobalMedics warehouse in Etobicoke. GlobalMedic then used a pre-existing aid shipment to ship the product to Moldova.
Jan 2025
Assembly
The Just Vertical and GlobalMedic teams arrived on-site in Riscova in late January to assemble the grow racks on site.
Feb 2025
Growth
After a brief period of testing, seedlings were started and transplanted in February, with the first harvest in early March 2025.
